Announcement coming from Cape Girardeau mayor today

Cape Girardeau Mayor Harry Rediger has plans for an announcement at an afternoon news conference today, but thus far city officials aren't revealing the subject of the announcement.

A city government spokesperson on Friday alerted media outlets of a news conference at 3 p.m. today at the city council chambers, but said "further event information is not available at this time."

The Southeast Missourian will have a reporter at the news conference, so look for news on the announcement later at www.semissourian.com and in Tuesday's Southeast Missourian.
