ST. LOUIS -- American Airlines, which cut flights in and out of St. Louis on Nov. 1, said Tuesday it will restore a few extra runs and cut others at the scaled-back hub at Lambert Airport.

American, the world's largest airline, said that on Jan. 31 its AmericanConnection regional subsidiary will add a daily flight from St. Louis to Atlanta and two flights to Philadelphia. On Feb. 29, the airlines will add a sixth daily flight to Newark, N.J., and two more to San Antonio. On March 2, AmericanConnection will add a third daily flight to Hartford, Conn., and Joplin and a Saturday-only flight to Orlando, Fla.

AmericanConnection will discontinue two daily round-trip flights to Lafayette, Ind., on Feb. 15. The same day, service to Owensboro, Ky., will be reduced from three to two flights a day. Service to Charlotte, N.C., will be reduced to two daily flights on March 2. On April 4, American will discontinue its single flight from St. Louis to Phoenix and reduce service to Tampa, Fla., from two flights to one for the season.

Earlier this month, AmericanConnection added a fifth flight from St. Louis to Boston.
