American Legion Post 158 of Jackson has selected students as Music Student of the Month for September, October, and November.
This is a program of the Americanism Committee of the Legion post and recognizes outstanding music students of Jackson High School. This is funded by the American Legion bingo account.
Students will receive a $100 savings bond in honor of their accomplishment's.
For the month of September, the music student of the month is Brad Mirly of Jackson, a senior at Jackson High School. Mirly is the son of Tom and Terry Mirly.
He has been a member of the all-district band for five years, all-state band two years, Future Business Leaders of America for three years, National Honor Society for two years, and the French Club for two years. He attends Hanover Lutheran Church. Following graduation, he plans to attend Southwest Missouri State University and major in computer science.
For October, the music student of the month is Erika Beasley, a senior at Jackson High School.
She is the daughter of Danny and Sue Rees. Beasley has been a member of the all-district choir for four years, all-state choir one year and has received a "1" rating at the state contests.
Beasley, along with other choir members, sang back-up vocals for Kenny Rogers at the Show Me Center. She is also a member of Chamber Choir and Choir Council, serving as choir secretary.
She is involved in her church youth group and is on the youth council.
Following graduation, she plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University, majoring in vocal performance.
For November, the music student of the month is Matt Palisch. Palisch, son of John and Pat Palisch, is a senior at Jackson High School where he has been a member of the all-district band for five years, all-state band one year, and has received an "A" rating at the state music contests the past three years for solos.
Palisch also plays with various ensembles and is a member of the handbell choir. He is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, Spanish Club, National Honor Society and the Capaha Antique Car Club.
He is vice president of band and F.B.L.A. He is a member and vice president of his church youth group, sings in the church choir, and is an usher.
Following graduation, Palisch plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University and major in music and minor in business administration.
