An art program celebrating America's Colonial heritage will be presented for children and their parents at 2 p.m. Saturday at May Greene School.

Professional storyteller Tanya Merritt will perform "The Baker's Dozen," a tale from the Colonial days. Art teachers Brenda Seyer and Elizabeth Thomas will help the participants make a Colonial folded book of "The Baker's Dozen."

It is the second in a 10-part series titled "Festivals, Families & the Arts, " sponsored each school year by the Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts.

Admission is $1 per person, and children must be accompanied by an adult. For $10, an Art for Kids Club membership allows a child to bring an adult companion at no charge.

Pre-registration is necessary by calling the arts council at 334-9233.
