The Show Me Center announced today that bluegrass heavyweights Allison Krauss and Union Station will play the venue in October.
Krauss's Oct. 5 appearance, which will feature opening act Jerry Douglas, will be the Show Me Center's first concert since Christian pop star Michael W. Smith's performed in May.
Krauss and her band Union Station are the most commercially successful band in bluegrass, earning 17 Grammy awards and other country music and bluegrass awards. The group's latest disc, "Lonely Runs Both Ways," has reached gold status.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 15 and can be purchased online at www.showmecenter.biz or by calling 651-5000.
Another fall concert will mark the return of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra to Cape Girardeau on Nov. 15. TSO's mix of guitar-based rock, Christmas themes and on-stage light show was a success in Cape Girardeau last year and is expected to go over well again.
Sales dates haven't been announced yet for the TSO show.
The Show Me Center will also host the Bob and Tom Comedy Show tour in November, with comedians Pat Godwin, Drew Hastings, Henry Phillips and Bob Zany on Nov. 5 at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.
Tickets are also on sale for "Sesame Street Live" on Sept. 21 and 22.
