BERNIE, Mo. -- A Dexter, Missouri, man is behind bars after Bernie police were sent to a residence there regarding a dog being mistreated.
According to Bernie Police Chief Justin Allen, officers arrived at 406 Bowman St. on Wednesday to find a small dog whose muzzle was taped shut with duct tape.
Sidney Williams, 47, of Dexter was placed under arrest at the scene and charged with animal abuse.
During the arrest and search of Williams, officers discovered methamphetamine and hydrocodone in his possession, and was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Williams posted a $20,000 bond, and he has been released.
