An Alabama man is in custody for allegedly assaulting a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest early Monday morning.
A Monday afternoon news release from Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter identified the man as Channon L. Lowery, 29, of Millbrook, Alabama.
In the release, Walter said deputy John Caudle responded to assist the Miner (Missouri) Police Department at 3:08 a.m. with a disturbance in the parking lot of a local business in Miner. Caudle approached Lowery, who was standing in front of the business. According to the release, Lowery was not wearing a shirt or shoes and was causing a disturbance by yelling and cursing.
Caudle asked Lowery to step in front of his patrol car so that he could speak with him; Lowery allegedly continued acting out and began advancing on Caudle. Caudle extended an arm to block Lowery, at which point Lowery allegedly tried to hit Caudle with his fist.
Lowery then attempted to flee arrest and had to be subdued with a Taser. He was arrested and transported to the Scott County Jail.
Caudle was not injured in the incident.
Lowery remains in custody in the Scott County Jail, and bond has been set at $2,500 cash only.
