In an effort to increase traffic, the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport will sponsor two open-house events -- one for pilots, the other for airplane-loving folks.
The first will be May 4 at the Spring '96 Fly-In, featuring competitions in precision landings, aerial drops and aircraft identification. All will have cash prizes.
Air Evac Aviation will offer a 20-cent per gallon discount on fuel, and Trevier's Restaurant will offer a 20 percent discount on meals for participants.
Then, on June 7, a Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress will land at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport. It will remain until June 9, and the public is invited to view the World War II airplane.
An open house featuring the plane will be held Saturday, June 8. The restaurant will have low-cost refreshments and Air Evac will offer discount airplane rides around Cape Girardeau.
