The Southeast Missouri Effort for AIDS organization will hold its first Walk for Life on May 1.

This walk is being held in an effort to raise money to better help and support the people of the region who have the HIV virus or AIDS.

The Walk for Life will start on Cherry Hill at Capaha Park. The pre-registration fee is $5 and must be received by April 21.

On-site registration will start at 8:30 a.m. and will be $10. There will be no fee for children under the age of 14.

The walk will be six miles long and maps will be provided. There will be a closing ceremony following the walk at which a drawing will be held for prizes. There will be food and entertainment available.

Participants are encouraged to solicit pledges. Each person with $10 in pledges will receive a T-shirt. Each person with $30 in pledges or more will entered in a prize drawing. Pledges must be turned in at the registration table before the walk. For persons who have not raised $10 in pledges or more, T-shirts will be on sale at the walk for $15.
