Cape Girardeau’s regional Aging Matters office has moved from its location off North Kingshighway to 1078 Wolverine Road.
Barbara Hahs, a development coordinator at the former Southeast Missouri Area Agency on Aging, said the new location provides better parking and makes the facility easier to find.
Although the new building is slightly larger than the old one at 7,500 square feet, it still is an upgrade for the 22 people who work there and the clients 60 years old and older who go to it for services.
“Some of it is storage, but office-wise, (the building is) all full,” she said.
About 115 visitors celebrated the new office site for the not-for-profit group during an open house last week.
Aging Matters is part of an 18-county area with 32 senior centers that serve meals each day.
For participants who can’t leave their homes, meals are delivered.
Other programs and services include an Information and Assistance program that educates clients about Medicare and other issues, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, transportation services and more.
