Olivia Gans, national director of the Washington, D.C.-based American Victims of Abortion, will speak Thursday at Southeast Missouri State University.

Gans, an authority on post-abortion syndrome, will speak at 7:30 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom.

Post-abortion syndrome is the emotional and psychological damages experienced by a third of abortion patients.

Since founding American Victims of Abortion in 1985, Gans has spoken in 15 countries and at more than 40 universities worldwide.

Gans is a prominent spokesperson for the National Right to LIfe committee, rated by Forbes magazine in 1997 as one of the 10 most powerful lobbies in the United States.

Her visit to Southeast is sponsored by the Collegians for Life, Student Government and the Vitae Society, which sponsors anti-abortion speakers and television ads in Missouri.

Admission will be $5 at the door.
