Accidents in Cape Girardeau County Sunday and Monday hospitalized two people with serious injuries.

Aaron Wolfe, 20, of Cape Girardeau was taken to Southeast Missouri Hospital early Sunday after the car he was driving ran off the road and struck a tree head-on. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

The accident occurred at 12:05 a.m. on Route Y, 1 mile east of Route W.

In the other accident, Leronda Joy, 22, of Lambert, Miss., was taken to St. Francis Hospital by helicopter after the vehicle she was driving on Interstate 55 drove off into the median and overturned. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Joy fell asleep at the wheel.

The accident occurred at 5:30 a.m. Monday, one-half mile north of Fruitland, Mo.

Joy's passenger, Kenny Sellers, 35, of Lambert was taken to the same hospital with moderate injuries.
