ANNA, Ill. -- A 19-year-old Jonesboro, Ill., man died Tuesday morning at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau from injuries he suffered in a one-vehicle accident near Anna Monday evening.

The victim, Matthew M. Clark, had been transported to the hospital by air ambulance Monday.

Clark had been a passenger in a car driven by Glen A. Scott II, 20, of Anna.

Scott was transported by air ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau where he was listed in critical, but stable condition Tuesday night.

The accident occurred about 5 p.m. Monday on Sewer Plant Road off Highway 51 just north of Anna.

Illinois State Police said the vehicle was westbound on a wet road, lost control in a curve, slid off the roadway and struck a tree on the passenger side.
