An election-year issues forum will be held today at the Cape Girardeau Senior Center, 921 N. Clark, sponsored by the American Association of Retired Persons.
Topics include proposed changes to Social Security, Medicare and federal tax reform. Issues will be discussed by nonpartisan voter education volunteers from 1 to 3 p.m. The program is free.
Marie Nowak, Missouri AARP Vote coordinator, said, "AARP believes that education is vital to having informed and active citizens. We are sponsoring this voter education workshop to encourage Cape Girardeau area residents to find out all the facts before they vote."
AARP is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization for persons 50 and older. It doesn't endorse candidates nor contribute money to political candidates or parties.
