A 71-year-old Jackson woman was moderately injured in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon when her SUV failed to yield and was struck by an oncoming pickup truck, police said. Ruth A. Boxdorfer was attempting to make a left turn, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, when her 2010 Ford Escape was hit by a 2005 Chevy Silverado driven by 18-year-old Kody Lorenz of Jackson.

A 71-year-old Jackson woman was moderately injured in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon when her SUV failed to yield and was struck by an oncoming pickup truck, police said.

Ruth A. Boxdorfer was attempting to make a left turn, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, when her 2010 Ford Escape was hit by a 1995 Chevy Silverado driven by 18-year-old Kody Lorenz of Jackson.

Boxdorfer was driving west on Route E about four miles east of Oak Ridge in Cape Girardeau County about 5:10 p.m. when the wreck took place, the patrol said. Boxdorfer and Lorenz were both wearing their seat belts.

Boxdorfer was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where the patrol said she was treated for moderate injuries.

Lorenz was taken to Saint Francis for moderate injuries.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged.
