ST. LOUIS — Downtown St. Louis took on a pinkish hue Saturday as more than 4,000 breast cancer survivors gathered for the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. The women, many dressed in pink in show of unity against the disease, participated in the Survivor Procession and were joined by thousands of supporters for the noncompetitive race. The St. Louis event is among the largest Komen races in the nation. The Komen race began more than two decades ago in Dallas with 800 runners and now has more than 110 races nationwide.
