ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A national survey has listed three Missouri universities as among the best at helping to improve their cities.
The University of Missouri campuses in Kansas City and St. Louis, along with Saint Louis University, were among the top 25 in the latest "Savior of our Cities" rankings.
Michael Konig, a research fellow at Westfield State College in Massachusetts, told KWMU that the leaders in his survey see their communities as needing each other to survive.
The survey looks at such factors as economic impact and community service.
The University of Missouri's St. Louis and Kansas City campuses shared the 14th spot with the University of Houston. Saint Louis University came in 22nd. Washington University in St. Louis and Graceland University in Independence were also recognized but did not make the top 25.
