CAIRO, Ill. -- Three persons, including one from Mounds City, Ill., were injured Saturday when their vehicles collided at the intersection of Illinois Route 3 and Redman Road, north of the Cairo Municipal Airport.
District 22 Illinois State Police at Ullin said the accident occurred when a van driven south on Route 3 by Treva Vines, 68, of Mounds City, attempted to make a left turn onto Redman Road, in front of an oncoming car driven north by William Sullins, 63, of Carterville, Ga.
Sullins, his wife, Maggie, 62, and Vines, were transported to Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. All were listed in stable condition Saturday.
Police said Vines was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.
The accident occurred at 8 a.m.
