A $250,000 bond has been set for a suspect in the shooting that occurred Tuesday on Themis Street, according to Cape Girardeau police reports.
Brannon Lavelle Mackins, 19, of Mounds, Ill., was identified by the victim and another suspect for firing and then fleeing the scene prior to the officer's arrival about 1:55 p.m.
Mackins whereabouts were unknown, according to Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle.
The victim, a 26-year-old man, was transported to the Saint Francis Medical Center with a gunshot injury to his left arm.
When police arrived, the victim stated that Mackins approached him at his place of employment and an argument ensued, according to a probable cause statement written by patrolman Amy Walker of the Cape Girardeau Police Department. When the victim told Mackins to leave, Mackins flourished a small chrome revolver and began firing at the victim, according to the report.
A 23-year-old man was later arrested at the scene in possession of a firearm, which he stated Mackins had given it to him after the incident, according to Walker.
The gun seized was a .38-caliber stainless steel revolver with pearl grips, she said.
Mackins is charged with a class A felony of the first degree for assault and a felony for armed criminal action.
Mackins is a prior felon with charges of aggravated battery and robbery.
The Cape Girardeau Police Department has requested that anyone with information of Mackins whereabouts call (573) 335-6621 or CrimeStoppers at (573) 332-0500.
