The second annual Oktoberfest held at Bavarian Halle Saturday was attended by almost 500 people. The event was made successful through the hard work and generosity of all sponsors, partners and dedicated volunteers, according to organizers.
The celebration originatedwhen the Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria, later King Ludwig I, celebrated his marriage to Princess Therese of Sachsen-Hildburghausen on Oct. 12, 1810. The festivities were open to Munich residents.
The Jackson Chamber of Commerce, organizer of the event, said dancers were entertained by German music performed by Two Star Finale. Authentic German food was served and Bavarian-style merchandise was available. Plans already are being made for next year. Giveaways will be made every hour at the 2004 Oktoberfest.
