BOONVILLE, Mo. -- Two vans carrying teen-agers on an outing were struck by a third vehicle on Interstate 70 on Saturday, sending 20 people to Columbia hospitals, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
The accident happened about 12:45 p.m. Saturday when an eastbound vehicle crossed the median and hit both vans, sending one of them into an embankment and onto its side.
Most of the injured were taken to University Hospital, where at least two were admitted, a supervisor said. Seven others were treated at Boone Hospital and were released, a spokesman said.
