Two students at Southeast Missouri State University were honored recently at the Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference, which was held in Anaheim, Calif., July 6-9.
Phi Beta Lambda is a professional business organization for college students who are pursuing careers in business.
Competing in PBL's national award program, Delana McLaughlin placed second in the accounting II contest. McLaughlin was presented a plaque and a computer software package.
McLaughlin is a senior at Southeast. She plans to graduate in December with a major in accounting.
Also placing in the top 10 in national competition was Dawn Ferrell, who competed in the business communications contest. Ferrell was presented a plaque for her 10th-place finish in the contest.
Ferrell is also a senior at Southeast and plans to graduate next spring with a major in marketing.
The contests in which McLaughlin and Ferrell participated are part of a comprehensive competitive events program sponsored by Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda Inc. (FBLA-PBL). The participants in the competitive national contests are selected from FBLA-PBL's 270,000 members.
Also attending the national PBL conference from Southeast was Clay Woemmel. Wommel was recently elected to serve as PBL historian and reporter for the state of Missouri. He is also currently serving the local PBL chapter as president.
Advisers to the group are Dr. Carolyn Rainey and Dr. Roy Farris.
