KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Kansas City police say a kidnapping suspect is dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in one of two fatal standoffs in the area overnight.
The unidentified man is suspected of abducting a woman at gunpoint outside a Kansas City restaurant late Sunday. She was shot, but police said her wound was not life-threatening.
A license number provided by witnesses led police to a home where a woman came outside and said she had been shot. Soon gunfire was heard from inside the home and police found a man dead of a self-inflicted wound.
In Raytown, a man who had holed up in his home for several hours is dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. Police were called to investigate a domestic disturbance.
Police said the gunman fired three shots at officers.
Later a bomb squad robot sent inside found the man's body.
