DEXTER, Mo. -- Two Dexter residents remain behind bars following a drug bust Wednesday that netted local police two methamphetamine labs, along with several ingredients associated with the manufacture of the drug.

On Wednesday, police attempted to serve an arrest warrant at a residence at 220 A. E. St. Francis St. where Jeffery Dean Ray, 23, told them the subject of the warrant did not live there.

Ray declined to allow police to search the residence without a search warrant, Lt. Trevor Pulley of the Dexter Police Department said, but when asked how much "weed" was inside the residence, Ray responded, "half a blunt." Ray then reportedly informed the officers there was a back room in the residence that "may have a methamphetamine lab."

Ray and Amy Sue Bennett, 33, were arrested and charged with attempting to manufacture methamphetamine. Both were being held Stoddard County Jail on $50,000 cash-only bond.
