A call came in to the Cape Girardeau Police Department at 9:56 p.m. Monday night regarding a shooting that occurred in the 1000 block of Bloomfield Street in Cape Girardeau.

Darin Hickey, public information officer for the Cape Girardeau Police Department, said a 14-year-old boy was walking in an alleyway near Bloomfield Street when it appears he was struck one time by a gunshot. He said it appeared to only be one shot, but could not confirm.

The police have no suspects in custody at this time. Hickey said the young boy was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
