1 dead, 1 critically wounded in Springfield stabbing

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- A suspect is in custody in a double stabbing that left one man dead and a second critically wounded in southwest Missouri.

Hickory County deputies say the stabbing occurred Sunday morning along a rural road near Pittsburg. Investigators say two people from Springfield were stabbed multiple times during a fight with a third person.

They say the suspect took off in one of the victims' vehicles, only to be caught by the highway patrol in Springfield several hours later.

Formal charges are pending.
