Hundreds of pancake meals were made and distributed to local frontline workers by the Cape Girardeau Noon Lions Club on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020, at the A.C. Brase Arena Building in Cape Girardeau. The annual Lions Club Pancake Day event has been open to the general public in the past, but it was changed this year to exclusively serve law enforcement officers, firefighters, first-responders and health care workers carryout pancake-and-sausage meals at no charge. As meals were received, workers thanked the volunteers providing the meals, to which volunteer Gunnar Knudtson replied, "Appreciate what you do."
