Feeding one-week-old triplet calves

Larry Hahn and his son, Lance Hahn, tended to one-week-old triplet calves Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, at the Hahn family's farm in rural Bollinger County, Missouri. After research, Lance said there's a one in 100,000 chance of triplet calves being born. “You know we were excited about getting it anyway and then, lo and behold, we got three,” Lance said with a laugh. “It was like, ‘Boy, we started out with a bang.’”

Larry's son, Lance Hahn, said generally they'll bottle feed the calves first before they feed from their mother. He said one cow, unless it's a dairy cow, can't really give enough milk for three cows. "She'd probably do fine with two, but three is quite a stretch," Lance said of the mother.
