A man was injured in a shooting Monday afternoon in the 100 block of South Park Avenue in Cape Girardeau.
Police department public-information officer Rick Schmidt confirmed Monday in an email that around 2:15 p.m. a male subject was shot in the upper torso and transported to a local trauma center for treatment.
Police are not identifying the wounded man at this time, and Schmidt said the investigation is ongoing.
As of Monday afternoon, police did not have any suspects in custody.
A Southeast Missourian reporter at the scene of the shooting saw police photographing at least nine pieces of evidence, including several bullet casings, in the street and on a sidewalk in front of a residence a few houses north from where paramedics were treating the wounded man.
