  • Mobush, I'm still learning. As of now I think Missouri in all actuality as a whole wanted not to be southern or northern so much as independent and neutral.

    So what was decided?

  • Now that Mizzou will be in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) starting next season the debate will be over.

  • The article never mentioned how it ended. But did describe in detail how one Missourian schooled a gentleman from Alabama on how Missouri is Southern.

I think Missouri wanted to be neutral in the beginning but the St. Louis Massacre was the deciding factor in the East with Kansas being the deciding factor in the west.

The citizenship of Missouri rose up against the Federal Government to such a degree that Abraham Lincoln was forced to deploy 1/4 of the entire Union Army in Missouri.
