And that great opportunist of all time Obama had chimed in about how awful the out of control health costs were becoming.
If an insurance company can make a mistake in math, what can possibly lead you to believe the federal government won't make an even bigger mistake, particularly with the present crowd in power?

You would think that the 39% number would have grabbed the attention of someone at Anthem, or they just decided to submit anyway to see if they could pull it off or to make a 15% increase seem a little less outrageous.
Nice to know that the people who handle my health insurance double-check their work before they submit it ; you're not in 3rd grade anymore.

And isn't it wonderful to be so trusting of government who caught the "mistake."
You know, never let a good math error go to waste.

Came across this article last week, kinda goes along with the fuzzy math theme.
In short, guy was told he needed surgery and got estimates from a couple different surgeons the cheapest of which was $33,000. Family members from the UK encouraged him to travel there where he could have the surgery done by a private hospital for $2,930. With airfare the total came to about $3700. Savings of approximately $30,000. Nice.
