Youth United Way, a student-led group of 30 high school students from Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Scott City, Saxony Lutheran and Notre Dame volunteer at local charities like MVTH and raise money to fund youth programs. Recently they cleaned out horse stalls where MVTH horses are kept. MVTH exists to give those with disabilities the chance to build strength and confidence. There are no paid employees at MVTH. Adults and children with physical or developmental disabilities who receive therapy through riding a horse, rely on volunteers to maintain the facility and care for the horses so they can continue therapy through horsemanship.
