Local students have been honored with placement on the Freed-Hardeman University's dean's list for academic achievement during the 2013 spring semester. Inclusion on the list requires maintaining a minimum grade-point average of 3.40 for the semester and full-time status. Named to the list were Sarah Thornsberry of Cape Girardeau, Rebecka Simpson and Richard Simpson of Jackson and Whitney Green of Sedgewickville, Mo. Freed-Hardeman University is in Henderson, Tenn.
Samuel Bornstein of Cape Girardeau received a master of business administration degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
Molly Turner of Jackson, a sophomore at Truman State University, recently accepted membership into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. The society's membership is by invitation only based on grade-point average and class standing. Turner is majoring in business management and economics and carries 3.8 grade-point average. Truman State University is in Kirksville, Mo.
Prithvi Rudrappa of Cape Girardeau and Alicia Arnold of Jackson were named to the Southern Methodist University undergraduate honor roll for the spring 2013 semester. Rudrappa, a senior, was named to the honor roll that includes students in the top 15 percentile. Arnold, a sophomore, was named to the honor roll that includes students in the top 10 percentile. The university is in Dallas.
Dakota Werner and April Maevers received the Calvin R. Wells Scholarship awarded by the Cape Girardeau Evening Lions Club. Werner is a graduate of Saxony Lutheran High School and will attend Maryville University in St. Louis. Maevers is a graduate of Jackson High School and will attend Southeast Missouri State University.
