Scholarships

* Janna Trautwein and Nina Scheibe, graduates of Cape Girardeau Central High School, received annual National Merit Scholarships from their respective university. Both were National Merit finalists and among 4,700 finalists who received college-sponsored awards. Trautwein will attend Loyola University Chicago, and Scheibe will attend the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan.

* Justin Graham of Cape Girardeau received the General Education Degree Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2010-2011 school year.

The following Scott City High School graduates received scholarships:

* Skylar Cobb received a baseball scholarship from Three Rivers Community College, where he plans to study athletic training. Cobb also received the Keith Anderson Memorial scholarship.

* Blake Crail received a scholarship to attend Nashville Auto Diesel College and study diesel mechanics. He also received an Imagine America Scholarship.

* Brandon DeProw received the Audio Production Scholarship from the Art Institute of America, where he plans to major in audio production in the fall.

* Harley Doyle of Benton, Mo., received a scholarship from Trendsetters School of Cosmetology in Cape Girardeau, which she plans to attend in the fall.

* Craig Enderle received the Keith Anderson Memorial Scholarship and plans to study auto technology at Mineral Area Community College.

* Stephanie Essner received a track scholarship from Southeast Missouri State University, where she plans to study athletic training. Essner also received the Keith Anderson Memorial scholarship.

* Ashley Bess of Millersville, Travis Bueter of Marble Hill, Mo., Austin Sutterer of Jackson and Mattie Wilhite of Old Appleton received the 2010 Procter & Gamble Fund Employee/ Retiree Children's Scholarship.

* Melissa Thomas of Scott City High School, Clayton Shoemaker of Oran High School, Thomas Gilliland of Jackson High School, Courtney Crowell of Meadow Heights High School and Derrick Carpenter of Advance High School received scholarships from Hi-Tech Communications Inc. to attend their selected university or college. The company will award $15,000 in scholarships annually. Students who will graduate in 2011 can receive an application by contacting Viney Mosley 573-450-9415 or e-mail vmosley@hi-techcom.com.

Honors, Achievements

* Lauren Beussink of Cape Girardeau received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award from the University of Missouri School of Health Professions Alumni Organization. Beussink, a 2005 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School, is a graduate student in the diagnostic medical ultrasound program.

* Kelly Kapp, a junior at Notre Dame Regional High School, was accepted into People to People Academic Program as a student leader. She traveled to Harvard University in Boston to attend a leadership summit.
