Claire Herbst of Cape Girardeau earned the John T. Belcher Scholarship. She will attend Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Herbst is a 2013 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School and the daughter of Charlie and Dr. Sydney Herbst.
Nicole Hemmann of Jackson was named to Concordia University's honors list for the second semester of the 2012-2013 academic year. The top 25 percent of undergraduate students who complete at least 12 credit hours qualify for the list. Concordia University is located in Seward, Neb.
A team of students from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, including Robert Zhang of Cape Girardeau, raced against 120 international collegiate teams in Formula One-style racers at the Formula SAE competition in Barre, Ontario. A panel of judges evaluated the engineering, design, endurance and maneuverability of the vehicle Zhang helped create. The team finished fourth overall and came in second place in the endurance event and first place in the skidpad event. Zhang is a senior majoring in mechanical engineering.
Marilyn Joyce McNeary of Charleston, Mo., was named to Clemson University's president's list for the spring 2013 semester. McNeary is a history major. To be named to the president's list, a student must achieve a 4.0 grade-point average. Clemson University is located in Clemson, S.C.
Citizens Electric Corporation recently awarded seven $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors living within the utility service's territory. An at-large scholarship is given to a home-schooled student or senior not attending a high school in the service area. The recipients are Kyle Nicholson of Ste. Genevieve High School; Richard "Trey" McClure III of Valle Catholic High School; Levi Bachmann of Perryville High School; Alex Miget of St. Vincent DePaul High School; Austin Dowdy of Oak Ridge High School; Jordan Hoff of Saxony-Lutheran High School; and Margaret Kehoe of Farmington, Mo.
