Scholarships and awards/achievements

The following students were awarded Scholarships to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2013-2014 academic year:

* Ariel Dumars of Cape Girardeau was awarded the Education Access Program Match and Residence Life Leadership Award. She is the daughter of Rick and Clorinda James of Cape Girardeau and will graduate from Notre Dame Regional High School.

* Shea Wolfenkoehler of Sikeston, Mo., was awarded the Residence Life Leadership Award. He will graduate from Sikeston High School.

* Kaelyn Urhahn of Benton, Mo., was awarded the University Scholarship. She will graduate from Notre Dame Regional High School.

The following Southeast Missouri State University students have completed the Emerging Leaders Program. Emerging leaders help first and second year students refine their leadership and communication skills:

Rajitha Dissanayake of Maharagama, Sri Lanka; Daniel Hedgcoth of Fredericktown, Mo.; Chandelor James of Cape Girardeau; Asif Raz of Dhara, Bangladesh; Kylie Stoverink of Marble Hill, Mo.; and Jesse Weyand of Fredericktown, Mo.

Weber to compete in Holland

Julia Weber was selected to participate with USA Athletes International in the DKV Tournament in Holland. She was selceted for her athleticism and ability to positively represent her hometown and country. Weber plays volleyball for Central Methodist Univeristy in Fayette, Mo., and is the daughter of Bill and Mary Jeanne Weber of Jackson.

Arnzen earns spirit award

Aaron Arnzen of Cape Girardeau was awarded the Spirit of Avila award from Avila University in Kansas City, Mo. Arnzen was recognized for his service to the community and academic standing. He is a graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School.
