  • Charlotte Schaffner and Jennifer Huo of Cape Girardeau Central High School received an honorable mention in the 2008 Missouri Scholars 100. The program considers a student's GPA, ACT score, class rank, attendance, coursework, citizenship and school participation to select the state's top 100 seniors.
  • Every student in Shawnee Community College's nursing program passed licensure exams in 2007.

SCHOOL NEWS

  • The Missouri Sheep Producers are offering four $750 college scholarships to 4-H or FFA members involved in the sheep industry. Visit www.missourisheep.org/youthprograms.htm for applications and guidelines. Deadline is May 15.
  • Kelly Elementary School in Benton, Mo., will screen 4-year-olds for the district's preschool program from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 14 in the library. Children who are 4 years old before Aug. 1 are eligible. Thirty children will be accepted. Parents should bring the child's birth certificate, shot record, Social Security number and proof of residency. Call the school office at 573-545-3541 to schedule an appointment.
