- Amy Buehrle of Cape Girardeau was elected justice of the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity at Oklahoma City University School of Law. She will begin presiding over meetings next school year.
- Emily Henderson and Matthew Henderson, both of Delta, made the dean's list for the fall 2007 semester at Murray State University in Murray, Ky., and the University of Missouri-Columbia, respectively.

- Blanchard Elementary will hold an open house for upcoming kindergartners from 1 to 3 p.m. April 29. Students will meet teachers, tour the school and eat snacks. Parents will be able to register their child for kindergarten and have their child screened. Parents should bring the child's Social Security card, birth certificate, shot records and proof of address. The day will have a Disney theme.
- Students, staff and parents from Parkview State School in Cape Girardeau donated $1,100 to the Wounded Warrior Project. The money will benefit severely injured service members. Parkview serves about 30 students between the ages of 5 and 21 that have severe disabilities. Students from rooms that donated the most money were selected as king and queen. They are Landon Wilson and Kendra Rhodes for the primary one class, Gabe Charlier and Chelsy Baker for the primary two class, Zach Retherford and Valerie Hinkle for the intermediate class, Alex Hawkins and Ashley Biby for the young adult one class and Preston Raines and Tasha Tapley for the adult two class.
- The Academic Team from Central High School in Cape Girardeau won the 2008 Class 4 District Championship on April 12. Students Kate Peel, Matt Miller and Josh Wen were all-district medalists. Emily Limbaugh, Dr. Al Nicolai and Tracy Nicholai are the coaches. The team will compete in the Missouri State Academic Tournament on May 3 at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
