* The following students received scholarships to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2010-2011 school year:

Katie Brucker of Chaffee, Mo., received a President's Scholarship and a Missouri Assessment Program Scholarship.

Amanda Bruns of Cape Girardeau and Ashley Brant of Chaffee received a Regents' Scholarship.

Belle DelaCruz of Altenburg, Mo., received a President's Scholarship.

Hayley Compass of Scott City received a President's Scholarship and Missouri Leadership Award.

* Ten agriculture scholarships are available to Illinois students through state treasurer Alex Giannoulias. He will award $2,000 scholarships to 10 students pursuing careers in agriculture. Students must have a minimum 2.75 grade point average and be accepted at an Illinois college or university. Applications are due May 14 and are available on the treasurer's website or by calling 217-557-6436.

Honors, achievements

* Scott City High School was recently recognized for its participation in the Missouri Department of Transportation's Battle of the Belt competition. The school completed the competition with a 92.4 percent usage rate among high school students.

* Cape Girardeau Central High School's academic competition team qualified for the NAQT High School National Championship Tournament in Chicago in May during a recent competition in Columbia, Mo.
