The following students have been awarded scholarships to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2013-2014 academic year:
* Cheyenne Lingle of Millersville, Mo., was been awarded the University Scholarship and Residence Life Leadership Award. She is the daughter of Lindell Lingle and Theresa Schultz, both of Anna, Ill., and she will graduate from Jackson Senior High School.
* Austin Murphy of Thebes, Ill., was awarded the University Scholarship and Midwest Achievement Award. He is the grandson of Mary Kerr of Thebes, and he will graduate from Egyptian High School in Tamms, Ill.
* Taylor Seyer of Scott City was awarded the University Scholarship and Residence Life Leadership Award. She is the daughter of Chris and Joni Seyer of Scott City, and she will graduate from Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau.
Brandon Hicks of Sikeston, Mo., was named Missouri Society of CPAs Student of the Month for January. Hicks is an accounting major at Southeast Missouri State University and was nominated by Rebecca Lohmann, his accounting instructor.
Eight students in Southeast Missouri State University's cyber security department will compete in the Missouri Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition on March 15. Team members are Jeremy Wiedner of Imperial, Mo., Travis Holland of Gautier, Miss., Jake Schnurbusch of Jackson, Battle Tomasetti of Ballwin, Mo., R.D. Niroshan Lakmal Rajapakse of Sri Lanka, Melanie Thiemann of Wentzville, Mo., Charity Meyer of Harrisonville, Mo., and Blynn Atchley of Malden, Mo. Laura Kathryn Felter of Benton, Mo., graduated summa cum laude from the University of Missouri Columbia with a degree in agribusiness management and plant sciences. She is employed as a sales representative with Syngenta Corp Protection LLC in Ogallala, Neb. She is the daughter of Zeno "Sam" and Jolene Felter of Benton.
Meg Goodman of Cape Girardeau was hired for an internship with the Heritage Foundation in Washington D.C. The Heritage Foundation is a research and educational institute with a mission to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on traditional American values. Goodman is a junior accounting major at Southern Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo., and is the daughter of Scott and Teri Goodman of Cape Girardeau and granddaughter of Al and Mary Hitt and Doug and Fran Austin also of Cape Girardeau.
Mary Dodd of Cape Girardeau was named to the dean's list for the fall of 2012 semester at Murray State University in Murray, Ky. She is a freshman and the daughter of Tim and Loretta Dodd of Cape Girardeau.
