  • Jennifer Ellison, an Advance High School graduate, received an internship at Millikin Quarterly Magazine at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill.
  • Sam Sander of Jackson made the dean's list for the 2007 fall semester at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.
  • Wade Cramer of Jackson made the dean's list for the 2007 fall semester at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo.

SCHOOL NEWS

  • Kelly Parents as Teachers will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the elementary school's library. The meeting will focus on wellness, such as when to get checkups, and activities for National Dental Health Month will be provided.
  • Shawnee Community College is hosting a Kids' Day at the Ballgame at Feb. 16. There will be door prizes and free popcorn as the Lady Saints play at 2 p.m. and the Saints play at 4 p.m.
  • The Jacksonian chapter of the American Business Women's Association is offering a college scholarship for Cape Girardeau County residents. Applications can be picked up from a high school counselor, Southeast Missouri State University, or by calling 204-7727. The deadline is March 31.
  • The Oran School District will enroll kindergarteners for next year from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 5 and 6. Call 262-3435 to set up an appointment. Parents should bring the child's shot record book, birth certificate and Social Security card.
  • William Woods University will hold an orientation about its MBA program at 6 p.m. March 19 at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center. Call 800-995-3199 for more information. An orientation about its Master of Education program will be at 5:30 p.m. March 19 at the center.
