Willis wins student awards

Ashley Willis of Cape Girardeau, a student at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark., was awarded three gold and one bronze student awards at the 2013 ADDY Awards Gala. Willis also received additional recognition by receiving the Special Judges ADDY award. The ADDY awards are the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, and the purpose of the competition is to recognize and reward creative excellence in advertising. A gold ADDY Award is recognition of the highest level of creative excellence. While completing her education, Willis works part time as a graphic designer for Haag Brown Commercial Real Estate & Development and does freelance graphic design. She is expecting to graduate from Arkansas State University in December with a bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic design.

Griffith graduates medical school

Christopher S. Griffith recently graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Griffith attended the university for six years and graduated cum laude with his medical degree in May. He is involved in a three-year internal medicine residency at the University of Colorado in Denver; he is a 2006 graduate of Cape Central High School.

Students awarded scholarships to Culver-Stockton College

The following students were accepted into Culver-Stockton College's incoming class of fall 2014: Adrian McCoy, a senior at Woodland High School in Marble Hill, Mo., was awarded the trustee's scholarship; Molly Myers and William Hill, both seniors at Sikeston High School in Sikeston, Mo., were awarded the trustee's scholarship; Emily Davis, a senior at Zalma High School from Chaffee, Mo., was awarded the president's scholarship; Brandon Wilson and Taylor Reynolds, both seniors at Sikeston High School, was awarded the hilltop scholarship; Emilee Kay, a senior at Fredericktown High School in Fredericktown, Mo., was awarded the trustee's scholarship; Melissa Potter of Scott City Senior High School was awarded the hilltop scholarship. Culver-Stockton College is in Canton, Mo.
