The Friends of Saint Francis will have an all-day book sale at Saint Francis Conference Center.

Former NFL player to speak in Fredericktown

Shawn Harper, a former Indianapolis Colts player, will speak at the Calvary Temple in Fredericktown, Mo. Harper's experience in the NFL adds to his American tale of success as he delivers his message of motivation, encouragement and hope to audiences. Islamic open house planned

The Cape Islamic Center is opening its doors to help foster understanding and education in the community about the Islamic faith. Christmas Open House held at Red Barn

A Christmas Open House, featuring Pampered Chef, Homemade Gourmet, Beauty Control, Books R Fun, Zoe's "Bow"tique items, customized jewelry, picture frames and candles will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Red Barn on U.S. 61, four miles north of Fruitland.

Civil War Roundtable meets

The Cape Girardeau Civil War Roundtable meets for a presentation titled "The Myths of Nathan Bedford Forrest" at 2 p.m. at Hanover Lutheran Church, 2949 Perryville Road, Cape Girardeau. The program will examine the attitudes and opinions of northerners and southerners toward Gen. Forrest during and after the Civil War. The program will be presented by club member Rob Weeks.

American Indian presentation at Trail of Tears

Chief Paul White Eagle Smith will present a free educational lecture, "Nature & Its Influences on Native People" at 2 p.m. at the Trail of Tears State Park visitor center.
