Wayne Wallingford, chief people officer for McDonald's, was chosen as the Project Charlie Facilitator of the Year for the 2009-2010 school term. The award was announced at the Facilitator of the Year Banquet in May. Project Charlie is an international drug prevention education program based on teaching personal and social skills that promote resiliency and positive youth development. Schools participating in the program include Alma Schrader, Blanchard, Clippard, Franklin, Jefferson and Nell Holcomb elementary schools. The Project Charlie program is sponsored by the Cape Girardeau Evening Optimist Club. Wallingford is the immediate past president and currently serves on the board of directors.
