Mehner said he volunteers because "People in need of health care need a lot of support and encouragement. I believe Patch Adams had a good idea in creating a positive attitude and as much laughter as possible in life. My personal experience with cancer and the Southeast Missouri Hospital oncology nurses helped prove my theory. I volunteer with Southeast because I want Southeast to be known for the best in health care and for showing Christian love and concern for each patient along with a positive attitude and as much laughter and joy as possible."
