Lisa Henderson
School: Delta High School
Hometown: Delta
Parents: Tom and Carol Henderson
Post-graduation plans: I will be attending Maryville University in St. Louis in the fall, pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy.
High school activities: FFA (reporter, two years, secretary, one year), cross country, Future Business Leaders of America (historian), National Honor Society (treasurer), Pep Club and Science Club.
Honors: A Honor Roll (four years), State qualifier in cross country, state FFA qualifier in farm management, State Farmer Degree recipient, Composition Novel Award, Anatomy Award and Cargill Scholarship recipient
GPA: 4.21
Favorite high school memory: Getting my State Farmer Degree and attending the State FFA convention.
Favorite teacher and why: Danika Novak, my English teacher, because her class had a free atmosphere that made learning fun and allowed us to be ourselves. She always had us do projects that got us out of our comfort zones and helped us grow.
Role model: My role model is Terry Fox. He was a runner who never gave up. He had an advanced form of cancer that forced him to have his leg amputated, and amid his battle he went on to try a cross-Canadian run to raise money and awareness before losing his life to cancer.
Summer plans: Work at Premier Rehab and spend time with my family and friends.
What will you miss about High School? Getting to see my friends every day. I had an amazing class, and school is what brought us together. I will also miss running cross country and being involved in the FFA.
Advice to incoming seniors: I would advise incoming seniors to focus on their school work and plans for after high school, but don't miss out on your senior year. The year will fly by before you know it, and you don't want to miss out on a single memory.
How will you make the world a better place? By volunteering more.
What your prop says about you: Cross country was a big part of my time in high school, so I decided to bring my cross country medals for my prop. These medals represent all of the hard work and dedication that I put in. Even though I had several injuries, I won medals, qualified for state my senior year, and found my future occupation of physical therapy.
