Have a picnic while listening to music in the park

Bring a blanket and enjoy the evening summer air as you listen to live music. Don't forget to pack a picnic basket with food to chow on in case you get hungry during the concert. You can catch weekly concerts in several places this summer. Rock in the Rock Garden takes place in the Jackson City Park Rock Garden at 7:30 p.m. each Friday until July 15. The Jackson Municipal Band plays at 8 p.m. Thursdays at the Jackson band shell. The Capaha Park band shell hosts the Cape Girardeau Municipal Band at 8 p.m. each Wednesday. Tunes at Twilight, the outdoor concert series run by Old Town Cape, will resume its season at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 12.

Mia Pohlman is a graduate of Perryville High School who has completed her freshman year of college at Truman State University.
