The Dr. George G. and Helen V. Suggs Scholarship has been established through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation. The Cape Girardeau couple made a gift of more than $5,000, which was matched through the faculty/staff component of the Foundation's Honoring Tradition--Inspiring Success Comprehensive Campaign. The recipient will be a student enrolled at Southeast who is a junior or senior history major with a minimum 3.0 grade-point average; financial need may be a determining factor. Dr. Suggs, emeritus professor of history, taught history at Southeast; his wife, who earned a master's degree at Southeast, was a public school teacher 33 years.
