The Martha Ellen and George Alois Sudholt Scholarship has been established through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation. The scholarship was established in the Sudholts' memory with a $10,000 gift from Martha "Marty" Sudholt of Melbourne Beach, Florida, daughter of the late couple. The recipient of scholarship will be a student enrolled at Southeast majoring in education or counseling with a minimum 3.0 grade-point average. First preference will be given to a student from the Cape Girardeau community. The College of Education Scholarship Committee will select the recipient. Martha graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1961 from then Southeast Missouri State College, now Southeast. George graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelor's degree in agriculture In 1978, he earned a master's degree in counseling at Southeast.
