Volunteers with Southeast Hospice, a service of Southeast Missouri Hospital, were honored at the annual Southeast Hospice Awards Banquet in November. Christina Bles received the Gabriel Award, the top award for hospice volunteers. Bles works with patients in the home or the nursing home and volunteers to help call bingo at the senior center. Marla Cypert has been a volunteer since 2001 and received the Guardian Angel award for her dedication to hospice patients and their families. Judy Ruppel and Betty Hardy received the Cherub Award. Volunteers recognized for years of service were: Dixie Hopkins, Charlette Abernathy and Jo Dunbar for 20 years; Dorothy Dees for 15 years; Jane Hargraves for 10 years; Dorris Bauer, Vivian Hinkebein, Williard Hinkebein, Helen Hunt, Phyllis Lee, Sherri Mehner, Bill Mercer, Judy Ruppel, Teresa Tinsley for five years.
